The Reunion, Rain, and Flowers

I am so blessed to have a fun Irish Family.

I won't bore you with names, but show you a couple of pictures.  We had our party in the church hall of one of the oldest churches in Kansas City, Kansas... where they still have a social club AND a bowling alley... and believe me, the younger members of the family put it to good use!  The sound of pins falling and balls rolling rang out all afternoon as we ate and visited.

Two of the oldest family members greeting each other in the middle of the mix.

Okay, I lied, I will tell you who these folks are:  that's my big brother Mike, his daughter Anita, and her daughter Marlo on the left.

The Guy Who Started it All!

Gosh, what a great time we had!

Then, it was home to these:

Tonight we have had a storm, but it seems to have blown over without too much damage.  I'm going to check one more time on the TV to see what we can expect the rest of the night.  If you look at the second iris picture above, you will see the potato bed in back of it... the straw that I put on the potatoes last week to cover them as they grew.  As of tonight, they are at least 8 inches above the straw!
I'll be putting more down tomorrow.
We gave away bags of lettuce to the concrete guys when they came to get their forms tonight.  After waiting for weeks for it, it's coming up faster than we can eat it!

And one more treat for you to start your week off right:

This was waiting for me in the big henhouse tonight.

The Remarkable Mr. T!

  1. Hey Mary Ann, this is Carol, I have the Nigerian Dwarf goats on 235th. What a lovely family you have. I wanted to let you know my doe has yet to kid, she fooled me last fall and didn't't settle when I thought she did. She should be kidding around the 26th of May. I will let you know if you are still interested.

  3. Family reunions are fun!! That snake - it looks poisonous with the head shaped like a "V". But it's black??? After your eggs and baby chicks?

  4. Looks like you all had a wonderful time at your family reunion! I love the irises in your garden. I would not want to run into that fellow in the henhouse.

  5. Beautiful flowers, I can see in some of your pictures your vegetable garden growing wonderfully. Soon you'll have a full harvest.

I'm glad to hear the weather wasn't to bad for you up there. Please be careful, we had a tornado over us today.

Oh my a snake, I really hate those things.

  6. What a great reunion you all had. Nice you have a hall like that to use. Our reunions are always at a state park and it's often very hot. I haven't been to one in many years. Too far away. I'd be scared to go in the hen house with that Mr. T around. It clouded up awhile here yesterday and I thought it was thundering out but then discovered it was the neighbors motor cycle . No rain here. But it has been beautiful weather.

  7. We haven't had a family reunion in several years. After having them for over 40 year. As the older aunts & uncles pass, it seems that us cousins just aren't as diligent in getting everyone together unless it's for a wedding or a funeral.

Mr. T looks like he's taken over the hen house. What kind of snake is he? I agree w/Tree Hugger he looks venomous.

And, my goodness those irises are beautiful!

  8. That sounds like a great time. Our family never get's together.

    Love those irises. Spectacular.

Mr. T would have to find another home. He'd scare me every single time.
