Another Cold Day

Gosh,
if you had told me that we would be having 41 degree days at the beginning of May in January, I would have laughed at you.

But, with the moisture (it lightly rained all day today)... the greens are finally coming up.

Peas finally showing.  Doubt if we will get a harvest.

German Butterball potatoes... and one onion!

And the red potato bed, showing growth all the way down.

You also see a lot of little "helicopters" from the maple tree.  Every year I have to rake up or pull up tons of maple tree seedlings because of the "helicopters".

One of the two apple trees I fought so hard to save last summer.  We can pick apples off it this year!

The dogs were start, and even the Protector of Us All wanted to stay in in the cruddy weather.

That's it for another wet day at Calamity Acres!

  1. It didn't get quite that cold here still it was cloudy and windy most of the day. This cruddy weather doesn't make me want to do much either.

  2. Maple seeds are supposed to be edible (they don't taste bad), but it seems like a lot of effort.

  3. Sorry about the cold weather...our beginning of April was very cold but we've finally had a break and had a week and a half of warm temperatures. Hope your veggies grow nice and big for you...!!

  4. But the snow didn't stick? That's good. It will warm up soon, surely, and then all your plants will take off in growth. A month from now your pictures will tell a whole different story. Heavy rain, 3", predicted for Nashville tonight. People who got flooded out a few years ago won't get much sleep tonight for worrying. And it was at this particular time of the year too. I remember because we were watching the Derby on t.v. when it started up.

  5. It has been a cold spring here so far too and most stuff is at least a couple of weeks behind. We have a holiday this weekend so will be optimistic and head to the seaside.
    Cheers Gillian

  6. I'm glad to see your things are coming up. Maybe once it gets warm, they will pop up even more quickly, since they've had a nice amount of moisture. Maybe the snow will be a disguised blessing! :)
