Two Short Videos

Something spooked both of these girls last night.  We have not seen the coyote with the hurt leg since the beginning of the week, and are wondering what has happened to him.

I forgot to tell you, but Wednesday I was very ill with flu-like symptoms, and went out to lock up after dark... it was raining...and right in front of me not ten feet, and ... not ten feet off the ground, flew the owl!  So close I could almost reach out and touch it!  It went across the yard and up into the old walnut tree.  I went to get Keith so he could see it in the spotlight, but by the time I got him up and out on the deck, it had moved off again.  I am trying to figure out a way to put the camera on top of one of the higher posts, or attached to the side, because he uses the posts all the time to watch the pasture.

They also were not the first visitors, but the camera didn't record who was first... was it Hurt Leg?  Or the possums who come nightly?

  1. My goodness..
you certainly have a lot of 'visitors' around your place, at night.

I'm convinced that we need to get a game cam too... but, I'm a little worried about what we will see.

Racoons I'm certain, but I hope we don't have a mountain lion or anything.
A week or so ago, right in our old neighborhood, the DWR shot a rouge mountain lion.

  4. Great videos, fun to watch! Lots of activity. I hope you are feeling better? We've got an Owl hanging around here, but he's waiting for the Chihuahua's... he sits near the house after dark and waits for me to take the Pug and Chihuahua's out. I take them right beside the porch but I still use a spot light now that lights up the entire yard.

  5. You got a couple of great video captures. I've never been able to get a good shot of coyotes here. By the time I get my camera, they're gone. It must be exciting to have an owl that close. I hear them at night, but never see them. Thanks for following my blog. Now following you, too. Blessings.

  6. Mary Ann, after a few months, we'll think BarbaraJean has outgrown killing poultry, then out of the blue she'll do ot again.

I hear that the flu is reaching epidemic proportions. Did you get a flu shot?

    That cam is neat.
