Thank you for all your comments last night. It is easy to keep the affected hens quarantined, because they are in a separate henhouse, so thank heavens for small favors.
It hurts me to know what a mistake I made, but I'm trying to forgive myself.
Today, something came in the mail for me.

The deck that was covered with snow just a week ago is now almost empty of snow. I am going to work on the planting boxes tomorrow and tidy them up. The little birds, who were so eager to eat and drink here, have given up the free food for the most part, though they are still eating in the garden.
It's time to tidy up the buddleias, so I am going to research how to do it right in the morning. I have a long list of gardening things I want to start working on, and hopefully, in the next week or so, we'll be able to start work on the greenhouse. In all practicality, we won't be able to use it for this year's crops... so I'll start those inside over the weekend.
This guy is feeling better... and it's a lucky thing the snow is melting because the henhouse is smelling decidedly nasty, since the birds were cooped up so much. I'm going to start cleaning it out this weekend since I can now trundle a yardcart through the mud to the compost heaps.
The buds against the blue sky remind us that spring is really upon us.
The funniest little face in the world reminds me how lucky we are to have our animal companions... and spend so much time with them. Tonight, a blogging friend of mine is hurting badly, having lost her companion of 18 years... Ramona... my heart goes out to you and your husband for your loss. It makes me draw mine a little closer tonight... Ramona has suffered not one but two losses in two weeks, and I know her heart is hurting badly.
