A week ago, while I was home for a short time one day,
I saw this in our yard:
That, my friends, is a Coopers Hawk.
That picture was taken through the window, through the screen.
He is standing on the mound of seed under the bird feeder in the side yard.
I took a few pictures, and went back to the hospital.
Over the course of the week, I looked out daily to see
if I needed to put seed out, and I only needed to a couple of times.
So, now I know why.
The dogs and I just got home from Angel Falls.
Yep, there's our friend. Remember, there are cotton rats living down there in the side
yard and MANY mice.
These were taken with my phone.
We got out of the car before he flew... but, as Lilly jumped down, off it went.
It will be back!
The creek is still rushing over the falls... we had a lot of rain last week. Jester decided not to
go in.
However, the water baby went right in and wanted to keep going. I wish I could let her... but
it's too dangerous there.
Someday we will go out to Troy's and they can run around the pond again.
There are lots of geese on the farm ponds now, and I took this just around the corner from us.
I am hoping to get them on the wing tonight.
I want to thank everyone for your kind words on my last blog post, I appreciate them very much.
I used to have the same problem with my neighbor's 46 cats, but I dealt with it.
ReplyDeleteThose geese look very happy! Especially if everyones yard turns into a pond!
ReplyDeleteYes, now you know why that Cooper Hawk is visiting!

The birds are probably freezing and hiding. Looks like there's a lot of other fun stuff to see

Hope your birds are back soon. They are such a delight to see. That hawk probably thinks he has found a good hunting spot.
ReplyDeletethe hawk found a good food source.... don't blame him for hanging around.
ReplyDeletehave not been seeing a lot of geese, just a few
If there's a bird around I'll find it!
