Jester's First Walk

It wouldn't be such a big deal, but Jester did not get to go for walks before.
The kids were always busy.  They took good care of the dogs, but they were busy.

I have noticed these last two weeks that when I say
"C'mon let's go!"... both dogs know I mean let's get in the car and go somewhere.

They load perfectly and they ride either together in the back seat, or one rides
shotgun.

So... we went to do an errand, and then we went to the park!

We'll be getting rid of the retractable leash that came with Jester, they are
dangerous.  Jester was so excited he did not stop and smell the pee mail,
and he had to go potty when he got home.
Lilly did not get short with him, either.  I'm so proud of her.

We stopped several times so he could check things out.

Lil stopped, too... she was hoping to see some squirrels.

I was very dismayed to see these at the back of the park, and I'll keep an eye on them in the future.
I don't know that they are the same but...

Last weekend, the folks from Idaho Pug Ranch had a meetup with
Stanley and Murphy, the goldendoodles.

Little Greta, from the Ranch... was running and playing with Murphy and Stanley, and having a great time.  Her mother saw her eat a brown mushroom of some kind.  Within seconds, she was vomiting terribly, and went into shock.  Sadly, they lost her yesterday morning after three days in a coma.
I don't know that these are the same ones, but they struck fear in my heart.  There was a good-sized patch of them, and I'll be careful to get the dogs past this spot in the future.

This sad scene greeted me this morning when I went to fill the bird feeders.
Blood and feathers, after our storm last night.

I have seen only one cat in this neighborhood in the almost six months we've lived here, and
that was last week, across the street.  I pray it doesn't come in the yard when Lilly is out there.
I have the game camera out there right now and will leave it out until evening, and perhaps all night.

I am trying to learn how to use Keith's big Nikon camera, with the long lenses.

I have a long way to go, but I'm trying!  I hope to catch one in the air soon!

Tomorrow I'll be out at the old house without the dogs, rolling the rest of the
floors with Kilz.  We need to get outselves in gear and get that place rented!

And... it's this guy's 55th birthday today!  Unfortunately, he's spending it at a
conference in Junction City, and will be back very late tonight.  He has a cake waiting, even if he
just wants a bite of it.
It was son Brandon's birthday, too... he would have been 23 today.  How I wish he were still here to celebrate and eat cake!

  1. Oh I love your new header, Lily deserves a spot on the front page doesn't she....she is such a trooper. I also loved that they got to go to the park together, I think you should get you one of those things like we have that go between one leash, that way you aren't having to worry about two leashes.....please tell Keith Happy Birthday from us, it is a bittersweet day, we know.

  7. Happy Birthday, Mr Fifty-Five. Just a spring chick!

Brandon is with you. I'm sorry for your loss.

Dogs usually don't eat mushrooms. Yes, it was be better to be safe than sorry.

The cycle of life is cruel sometimes. Thank goodness, so far, here we are the top of the food chain.

    Have a great evening.

  10. Mary Ann,

Happy Birthday Keith!!!! I'm sorry about your son Mary Ann. Know your son is with you at all times.

Good to see both dogs enjoying themselves out at the park.
The more walking together on a leash outside of the home will help the dogs bond.
