And Then I Won A Scarf

Folks, I'm here to tell you something that you may have wondered about from time to time.

You know all that annoying stuff that comes into your email?  Subscribe to this, enter that.... a proliferation of contests and surveys always popping up?

I subscribe to a website called "Queen Bee Coupons" , and it features roundups of contests, surveys and sweepstakes once a month or so.

Lots of surveys and sweepstakes there, and someone has to win them.

Behold.

That is an Apple Ipad, the  32 bit model.

I received a call on Wednesday night, and was a little suspicious that it was a "phishing" call... though they asked for Mary, instead of Mary Ann, which is how I usually enter contests.  I entered a LOT of contests one day when I had some time to spare.  I also enter as a matter of course, on sites like Better Homes and Gardens... and lo and behold... the caller was informing me I had won an Ipad from a survey I had completed.  He gave me his name and number and the next morning I called him to see if he had said "I POD" because I thought I would give it to my granddaughter Madison for Christmas.  No, he assured me, he had said I PAD.  And in fact, it had already been shipped!

I received it Friday, and I have to tell you I'm happy for the early Christmas present, but have the Adobe file up on the computer right now to learn how to use it!!

I'm not bragging about this, I'm telling you because I myself always wondered about all the contests... and there REALLY ARE WINNERS!!!

So today I went to two craft fairs, and I intend to show you something neat I got at the first one in tomorrow's post.   I stopped at the second because it was on the way home, and not buying anything, I filled out some raffle tickets to help a young boy who needs surgery.

I got a call at 3 telling me I had won one of the raffles!

I jumped in the car and went back there... and....

I was given this lovely scarf.

It matches my purple winter coat!

But here is the best thing of all this week...

I received good news from my doctor yesterday.  You see, I had a small scare a few weeks ago, about which I decided not to write.  Now I can give the good news that everything has come out fine, and I am healing up from the minor surgery I had.
That, my friends, is like winning the lottery to me, and surely the biggest blessing God could have given me for Christmas!

Keep entering those surveys and contests... someone's gotta win!
