Oh my goodness. we had a wonderful soup tonight. Here it is in it's home-made glory:
I had eaten most of the broth when I remembered to take a picture, and that was my second helping!
Here is where I found the recipe, it was on the front cover of Food Network magazine this month. This link will take you directly to the recipe on their website.
Here is how I customized it for us:
I did use orzo... I highly recommend it... I could have used almost any small macaroni but the orzo was just perfect.
Instead of a panini maker I cut up about five pieces of white bread (any bread will do) and fried it in the skillet for a minute with some melted butter. Then I put it in the oven on warm after shaving some Gruyere cheese over it. YUMMMMMM. It only took a few minutes for the cheese to get melty, and then I served us up each a bowl, and we enjoyed the cheesy goodness on top of the good soup.
Very good, and perfect for a chilly afternoon, after a chilly weekend.
Enjoy!
(and don't forget to see my earlier post today for a wonderful piece of reading from a new blog commentator)
Mary Ann,
ReplyDeleteI've been following you awhile but haven't posted a reply.
That soup looks great. And, who doesn't love cheese bread. Especially with good cheese like Gruyere!
I broke down and got that magazine subscription a few months ago. Saw this recipe. Looked good then and now!
ReplyDeleteIt cracks me up that you had eaten most of it, for the second helping, when you remembered to take a picture.... that confirms for me it must be good! :) And yes, who doesn't love cheese bread? I mean seriously, who?
