Catching Up is Hard to Do

Well, I think I am back in the Land of the Living after five or six days of being layed low.

Whew!

We did have a nice Easter despite the malaise, and I was able to go to church and come home and get baskets ready before the grands descended.  How good it was to see them, and how beautiful the day was!

Has anyone noticed that Blogger has been abominably slow in the last five or six days?  Google Chrome was a blessing, and the pictures were loading FAST.... now we are back to the days before Chrome, when it took 20 minutes for a picture.  In fact, I have tried to do this post several times today, and could not get even one picture to load.

And today, it's a picture-heavy post.

I'm going to try again.

Today, I adopted two ducks.

Here they are in their old home, with their old buddies.

(By the way, it took this picture almost 40 minutes to load).

(And the next two wouldn't load at all.)

This one took ten minutes.  That's Diane, the lady from whom I got the ducks.  The ducks were all given to her a few weeks ago.

Here she is herding them up into a pen you can't see in this picture.

Hey!  Where are we????

At this point, I'm going to close the blog and try all over again.  It has taken four hours to get these pictures to load, opening and closing the blog, turning the computer off and on.

Hey, wherever we are, there's FOOD here!

If we stand over here and look out the fence, maybe those things will go away!

Here they come again, let's vamoose!

There were more pictures I tired to load, but honestly, I started at 1 PM or so, and it is now 6:25 PM.  I've been in and out doing things outside, and checking every so often to see if a picture has loaded.  I've waited 30 minutes for the one just after the above.

If anyone is experiencing the same problems, will you let me know?  Because otherwise, Hughesnet is getting a call tomorrow... this has been going on for five days or so.

I paid ten dollars apiece for these two Khaki Campbell girls, and probably would have paid more to get them here where there is food and WATER.
I filled a pool for them, but alas, it's leaking so I will have to change it out, and it's going in the discard pile to take to the county transfer station this weekend.
I have one other small pool that the llamas used to use... I'll try that one tomorrow.
It's good to hear a duck quack again, and I'll try to show you tomorrow where they are going to be sleeping.

I also have lots of plant things to show you if I can just.get.the.pictures.to.load.

That's it for today from a very cranky Calamity Acres!

  1. Glad you are feeling better and congratulations on the new additions. Your computer troubles sound like an internet connection issue. I have trouble like that all the time because of the phone company. Which is all I'm gonna say about that because really, no wants to see what happens to a grown woman after dealing with Frontier Phone for 15 years. You REALLY don't.

  4. Glad you are feeling better & sorry about the computer troubles. Love the ducks. We have some wild ones but I just can't bring myself to try & steal their eggs. Hope they come back year after year, just like the Purple Martins! (Even though we have tried to host them a new home, & they just keep coming back to the ole ghetto home!)

  5. For many years we had a few Musquovy ducks ( probably spelled that wrong lol) and we are planning on adding a few back to our farm this year. Nice you brought the Campbell girls home where they can get good feed and water.

  9. Yesterday I had some issues with blogger loading my reading list. It happens from time to time, telling me I'm not currently following any blogs. I assume they were doing updates of some sort.

    Love the ducks!

  10. I'm taking a break from blogging this week, so haven't tried to load pictures.

Have you scanned for malware, trojans and viruses?

Will they lay eggs? Without a male duck?
