Freezer Cold

We got a little snow.

What we got a LOT of was low temperatures.
It was 5 when we got up this morning, and with
the wind chill, was 12 below zero.

Needless to say, the dogs did not stay out long.

Here we were getting the newspaper, and Lilly was looking for a
place to potty... quickly.

Jes came back in and found a sunbeam.

You can see how he feels about the cold, and no, I haven't tried the little coat on him again. Yet.

This guy was waiting to eat at the feeding area this morning.

He didn't have to wait long.

This little junco was nestled in the snow, feathers all puffed out, on the back deck.

I get so tempted to feed there, but it would make a mess of our beautiful deck.

Ditto on the female goldfinch.

Look who visited the suet feeder!

He actually drove the starling you see off.

The time, temp and date are all wrong... but it's from today.
Mr. Blue Jay was picking out the peanuts.

Finches.

There is another woodpecker on the ground on the left.

We always have lots of doves and sparrows... and yes, the ubiquitous starlings.

I threw two rolls out there, large rolls... and by this afternoon, they were
all gone.

Almost as good as chickens.

Paiton and Jax are here for the night and for the day tomorrow,
since school is closed.

We'll have an inside day, for once, making some cookies.

  4. Good time to turn the oven on and bake. Staying in when the temps get that low is a must. Have a fun Monday!

  8. I'm glad we have not had any of that snow. The sparrows are helping our 2 hens eat all their feed. And treats. We give them bread everyday.

    Paiton is a cutie!
