What a Weekend!

What a weekend!

We have run the gamut from blue skies to constant snow... but did not
get the Snowmageddon predicted!

Why they call them red tailed hawks.

Sorry for the color... it was a very cloudy day.

As he caught the wire.

This was the view as we pulled out of the driveway on Saturday.  You
could not see the field at the foot of our street for the snow coming down.

It was lonely down on the corner, too, in the snow and cold.

Once I got the flat feeder filled, birds came from everywhere.

It almost looks like it is not snowing here, but it was.

And I saw my first red-winged blackbird of the season!

The juncos waited their turn.

The Northern Flicker and Blue Jays briefly shared the feeder.

I went to church this morning, and this guy was in a tree on the way home.

A few minutes later he gave a yawn and a big stretch.

And then he was gone!

I saw this pretty girl on the way home, too.  She was watching some
horses with the little goats on the other side of the road.

This herd has had plenty of hay this winter, unlike the last two... and I see them daily.

Lilly Ann, Jester and I are getting ready to leave right now to go
out and turn the light out in the henhouse.  We have been collecting five eggs a day!  Wow!

Everyone have a great Sunday evening and enjoy the last episode of Downton!

  2. If you know horses are going underfed, you should report it. There's no excuse for people not caring for their animals.

  3. I have heard that the red winged black bird is a sure harbinger of spring ! Nice to see signs how ever small that Spring is on it's way. We had a lot of new snow and even though I cleared the walks yesterday morning I'll need to do it again today. I was sad to see the end of this Downton season. It's a favorite of mine. Hope you have a wonderful Monday !

  4. We've had a hawk several time in the yard now. I'm pretty sure it was hunting some of the smaller birds in the grape vines.
