Wild Horse Antiques, Part Three

Feeling better today, I did my morning errands in Tonganoxie.  It's cold here today, 20 degrees out, with snow flurries coming down even as I type this at the computer.  Josie is playing on the printer and watching things outdoors, and the pugs are at my feet.  I'm glad to be home... some gardening books from the library to read tonight, and dream of spring.  We can tell already that the days are lengthening, and the light is staying in the sky longer.  After feeling puny all week, it's good to be back to normal.

I stopped at the post office this morning, and then decided to stop by Wild Horse Antiques and Consignment, to see what the shop looked like after Christmas.  I found two very nice surprises and decided to go back with the camera to take some pictures to share with everyone.  They are spectacular, and were consigned by the same lady.  Bids are up to 500.00 at the moment, above my budget (just a little!).  I am in no way compensated by Wild Horse, I simply like to shop there and I find something small almost every time I go in.

These, then, are what I found this morning:

A carousel horse, hand carved, never mounted to the carousel, estimated to be 100 years old:

From the front:

From the rear:
He is not all one piece... his hindquarters are in a piece, and the front legs, in one big piece... they are constructing a stand to take pressure off his legs so that he holds together for another hundred years.  He's a beaut!
But this, consigned by the same owner, was a remarkable piece of folk art:

The "front" of the church detaches, and you can look in and see the pews and the altar.
There is a light inside.

Here is the front, with the frontpiece on, there is a watch above the door as a clock.  It's a great piece of folk art.

What a find for little Tongie!

Tomorrow.... drama in the Big Henhouse!
