Lilly Ann's Story

Still dragging with flu, or whatever this is this week... five days now and not feeling much better, but still plowing ahead.  Sure wish it would get finished and leave me feeling tip-top again!  I wonder if it's the after -Christmas letdown???

Lilly Ann came to us almost four and a half years ago now.  Ranger was alone after Oscar the Min Pin was killed by the truck on the road, and we felt badly for him, since he and Oscar had been such good friends.  We went to Leavenworth Animal Control to get another dog, and my thoughts were to look at a German Shepherd female I had seen on their website.  While I talked to a volunteer on open house Saturday about the frenetic German Shepherd, Keith was making friends with a little red puppy, who sprawled on her back and begged to be rubbed.  The red puppy came home with us, while the hyer-active GSD stayed.  And thus, we got Lilly Ann.
She loves kids, but she is the dog to watch out for if you are planning something bad for Calamity Acres... this is her place and we are her people...and she'll defend us with every tooth in her head.

From day one, she was the boss dog

Not that she was ever naughty or anything...

or cute ...

and the mischievous puppy has become the gorgeouly-colored Lilly Ann,
Mighty Mouse Killer...
Yes, she points all the time!

Porch Guardian...

and Daddy's girl....

That's our Lil!

  1. Hope you feel better soon! That puppy picture was so cute! I recall when my black lab was a pup....the shredded papers look VERY familiar!

  3. Lilly is a beautiful girl!!

Funny how things work out - you go for one dog and fall in love with another. Our pawrents went to visit some puppies back in October with no intentions of adopting and now here we are with our little sister Ellie :)

  4. Hope you are getting better. She is absoultely adorable. I think you made a great decision. Don’t you find the rescued animals just love you in a different way than those that aren’t? They appreciate you more I think. So happy for you all and her!
